“Your feet are like ice,” Hisawe murmured, still half-asleep. She moved slightly, accommodating the new body that had joined her in bed.

“It is cold outside.”

Hisawe sleepily rolled her eyes, reaching behind her to grab Kenji’s wrist. Dragging his arm over her waist, she sighed. “You could wear socks, you know. I’ve been trying to get you to wear them for years.”

“They slide on the floors.” He shifted, threading his fingers with hers. “Besides, you never minded before.” He tipped his head down and nuzzled the curve of Hisawe’s ear.

“You just never paid attention to me complaining before,” she said, yawning. She snuggled closer to him, her back snug against his front, his knees curling behind hers.

Kenji bit back a snort of laughter. “As if I would ever ignore you, my lady.” His tone was light, and he pressed a kiss to her temple to punctuate his statement.

“I’m tired, so you’ve escaped my wrath this time,” she told him, playfully tipping her head up so her nose was in the air.

“Sleep then.” He gave her a genuine smile, one that he reserved for her eyes alone, lifting his arm up so she could turn to face him. She cupped his face in both her hands and kissed him.

Kenji gave her a satisfied murmur, his left hand keeping her smaller fingers on his cheek. “Love?”

“Your fingers are freezing.”

She gave him a mischievous smirk. “It is cold outside.”
